Jason Roberts, Executive Director – jason@envisionsportsmedia.com
Originally born and raised in Southern California, Jason moved with his family to the Sunshine State in 1987, where he graduated high school from Riverview High in Sarasota before eventually earning a bachelor’s degree in American History from Florida State University in 1996. An extended stint in graduate school until 1999 didn’t yield an advanced degree, but set Jason on a path for which he would spent the next decade working in the field of education. Jason spent five years in Atlanta after leaving the comforts of Tallahassee, but returned to Florida in 2003 in order to be closer to family. In 2007, the opportunity to work for a local Baptist church emerged, with Jason spending the next four years as an assistant to the Minister of Music. It was during that period that Jason, building on an ongoing role as a freelance writer on college football for various Internet sites, came up with the idea of starting his own sports media entity – one that merged the art of traditional, journalistic writing with the visual contributions of action photography. Two years of hard work between 2009 and 2011 found Jason teaching himself the ins-and-outs of managing a camera and volunteering his services to local prep organizations and universities as a means of gaining valuable experience. By spring of 2011, Jason had developed enough of a reputation for his work as a photographer to be hired by numerous collegiate teams traveling through Florida as part of non-conference schedules in baseball and softball. That eventually opened the door to other sports such as golf, where Jason gained access to teams playing in the Big East Championship and soon after, the regional and championship tournaments for Division I and Division III men’s and women’s teams in College Station, Texas, Stillwater, Oklahoma and Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida. Moved by a desire to expand Envision Sports Media’s operations, Jason elected in May of 2011 to leave his position at the church, and began an aggressive marketing campaign that ran the length of the summer. By fall, agreements had been reached with the likes of Boston College, Duke, Central Michigan, New Mexico State and Tulane to photograph football, while requests from the University of South Florida, Bowling Green, Furman, LaGrange College, Barry and Maryland Eastern Shore yielded contracts to cover both volleyball and soccer. Jason also expanded Envision Sports Media’s written portfolio, producing works for the likes of Football Nation, an NFLPA-oriented blog on the Miami Dolphins and a ghostwriting gig through Barlowe Interactive Marketing previewing collegiate and NFL football match ups.
Katie Carlson, Associate Partner / Photographer - katie@envisionsportsmedia.com
A current law student at the University of Florida, Katie enters her third year working with Envision Sports Media, building upon a long-stemming relationship with Jason that found Katie early on contributing both writings and her own brand of photography to the Envision Sports Media portfolio. Hoping to one day enter the field of sports law, Katie continues to assist in the development of Envision Sports Media as time permits, with primary contributions now focusing on collegiate and semi-professional baseball.
Jodie Snyder – Associate Partner / Photographer / Graphics Media Specialist - jodie@envisionsportsmedia.com
A budding photographer and graphic artist, Jodie began working with Envision Sports Media in fall of 2011, quickly learning the ropes of sports photography and bringing to Envision Sports a refined style of organizational management that completely revamped administrative processes, top to bottom. A former practitioner of all things point-and-shoot, Jodie successfully made the jump to working in the professional realm of DSLR photography last year and continues to make a name for herself in varied avenues of photography, including works being published under the guise of ESM in late 2011 and early 2012 by both Brock University and Barry University basketball programs. Jodie is currently finishing up a degree in Business / minor in Art at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, and hopes one day to open and operate her own business, which she sees blending photography, graphic arts and marketing all under one common umbrella.
